Mail notification

Hi All,

When I'm not using my Mac, which is running El Capitan 10.11.6 I put it in 'sleep' mode.

I have recently noticed, that when an email arrives (I use the mail app) I receive a visual notification on the log in screen.

Is there a way to stop this happening?
